Marquis Alfonso Giacomo Gaspare Corti (Gambarana, Italy 1822 – Corviro San Quirico, Italy 1876) was an Italian physician who published the first detailed anatomical and cellular descriptions of the cochlea (Corti 1851) — sometimes referred to as the “organ of Corti” — and particularly the tectorial membrane and stria vascularis (Kley 1986).
