For a person who has benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) involving the lateral canal (also called the horizontal canal) on the left side, whose eye movements are characterized as “apogeotropic,” the relevant treatment maneuvers include the Gufoni/Appiani maneuver (apogeotropic variant) for the left side, or the Zuma maneuver (apogeotropic variant) for the left side.

The lateral (also known as the horizontal) semicircular canal is the second most commonly affected canal by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
